Terms & Conditions

The boring but necessary bit

These Terms & Conditions apply to Doggums Private Members’ Owner Club (“the Club”). They exist to protect the welfare, safety, and happiness of all dogs involved, and to make expectations clear for members.

Nothing in these terms constitutes an offer of services to the public. Participation is by prior application, assessment, and acceptance only, entirely at the discretion of the Club.

Status of the Club

  • Doggums operates as a private members’ owner club.

  • It is not a public boarding business, kennel, or commercial service.

  • Membership, participation, and any care arrangements are discretionary and conditional.

  • Viewing the website, making an enquiry, or reading these terms does not create any entitlement to membership or arrangements.

Home‑from‑Home Care (Private Arrangement)

The Club facilitates small‑group, home‑from‑home care arrangements within a private household environment.

Dogs:

  • Stay as part of the household

  • May mix with other carefully matched dogs

  • Are accepted only where compatibility and welfare allow

All dogs must be:

  • Comfortable around other dogs

  • Friendly with people and children

  • Able to settle in a shared home environment

The Club reserves the right to decline or end arrangements if a dog is no longer suitable for a shared home setting.

Multiple Dogs From the Same Household

The Club may accept more than one dog from the same household.

  • Acceptance is subject to suitability, size, needs, and compatibility

  • Care contributions for multiple dogs vary and are agreed in advance

  • No automatic entitlement exists for additional dogs

Drop‑Off & Pick‑Up Times

Drop‑Off

  • Times are agreed in advance by private arrangement

  • Flexibility is offered where reasonably possible

  • Any drop‑off time counts as a full day’s care contribution

  • Members must adhere to agreed times due to pre‑planned walks and care routines

Pick‑Up

  • Collection before 10:00am on the final day: no additional contribution

  • Collection after 10:00am: charged as a full day

Contributions & Arrangements

All financial amounts are membership or care contributions, not fees for public services.

  • Contributions must be paid in full before drop‑off

First Confirmed Arrangement

  • 50% contribution at confirmation

  • Remaining balance due before drop‑off

Subsequent Arrangements

  • A £90 deposit is required to reserve agreed dates

The Club reserves the right to decline future arrangements at any time.

Cancellations

  • Cancellations more than 28 days before the agreed date: full refund

  • Cancellations within 14 days: deposit retained

Collection & Drop‑Off Assistance

  • Collection and drop‑off may be offered as a private assistance arrangement

  • £10 contribution within an 8‑mile radius

  • Additional distance may incur further contribution

Bank Holidays

An additional £10 per day contribution applies to arrangements covering:

  • Easter

  • Christmas

  • New Year

  • All UK Bank Holidays

What to Bring

Members must provide:

  • Usual food (to avoid dietary upset)

  • Regular treats

  • Bed, crate, or comfort items if used at home

  • Toys (where appropriate)

The Club may offer natural, treats where suitable for the dog.

Updates

Members may receive daily updates, including photos and messages, at the Club’s discretion. Updates are a courtesy, not an obligation.

Members must disclose:

  • All medication requirements

  • Clear dosage and administration instructions

  • Any known medical conditions

Food Allergies & Intolerances

Members must provide details of:

  • Feeding quantities and schedules

  • Allergies or intolerances

The household uses natural and homemade cleaning products and has hard flooring downstairs.

Veterinary Details & Emergencies

Members must supply:

  • Registered veterinary practice details

  • An emergency contact number

The Club has access to a 24‑hour veterinary surgery nearby.

In the event of illness or injury, the Club will act in the dog’s best interests and contact the owner as soon as reasonably possible.

Behaviour & Temperament Disclosure

Full disclosure is required of any behavioural traits, including:

  • Reactivity to people, dogs, bikes, or noises

  • Resource guarding (food, toys, balls)

  • Recall reliability and lead requirements

  • Known triggers or quirks

Failure to disclose relevant information may result in immediate termination of arrangements.

Puppies, Large Dogs & Additional Needs

Additional care contributions may apply for:

  • Puppies

  • Large dogs

  • Dogs with additional care or behavioural needs

  • Multiple dogs from the same household

All such matters are discussed and agreed in advance.

Insurance & Liability

  • The Club holds public liability insurance

  • Dogs participate entirely at the owner’s risk

While all reasonable care is taken:

  • Veterinary costs remain the responsibility of the owner unless caused by proven negligence

  • Owners remain responsible for any injury or damage caused by their dog to another dog, person, or property

Communication & Changes

Members must notify the Club as soon as reasonably possible of:

  • Changes to drop‑off or pick‑up times

  • Amendments to agreed dates

  • Cancellations

Clear and timely communication is essential to the smooth running of the Club.
